A spirited biography of a man during the mid-years of the 19th century and how he touched on many of the most picturesque phases of the opening of the West. Six Guns 1827 says, "A well-written biography which shows scholarly research. There are reliable chapters on Sam Bass and the Taylor-Sutton feud and a good account of the killing of Ben Thompson."
