Born as a citizen of the Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory, Will Rogers was an American vaudeville performer, actor, and humorous social commentator. As an entertainer and humorist, he traveled around the world three times, made 71 films, and wrote more than 4,000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns. By the mid-1930s, Rogers was hugely popular in the United States for his leading political wit and was the highest paid of Hollywood film stars. He died in 1935 along with aviator Wiley Post when their small airplane crashed in northern Alaska. An uncommon work on Rogers, arguably one of the world's best-known celebrities in the 1920s and 1930s. The subject of the sketches provide images in Oklahoma associated with Will Rogers. "...in the writing, there is an attempt to interpret the mind of Will Rogers in terms of his origins and to use him as a standard for judging contemporary American life." - Introduction. Tiny nicks and creases to the fore-edges, two tiny edge repairs using cellophane tape, wear to the spine ends with the interior clean and tight. Overall a very good, serviceable copy.
