Publication: The Harrison Publishing Company, 1909, Seattle
First edition. 8vo. Color pictorial wrappers, [8], 168 pp., index, double column, illustrated mostly from photographs, tables, charts, large folding map, advertisements. The folding map is sponsored by Schwabacher Bros. & Co., Inc. and titled Map Of Alaska Showing The Known Distribution Of Mineral Resources, 1908. The map is in fine, unused condition. First edition of this supplement to the Alaska-Yukon Magazine which Harrison had purchased in 1907 from Edna B. Jones, extolling the development opportunities of the Alaska-Yukon Territories. With Mrs. Jones continuing in the role as his advertising manager, they were both major proponents of the A-Y-P Exposition, and included here sections on the Industrial Progress in Alaska, Resources of Alaska, Alaska as a Sportsman's Paradise, Alaska - Geography, Physiography, and Climate, Education, Religion and Social Conditions, Scenic Alaska, History & Government of Alaska, The Ethnology of Alaska, Railroads of Alaska, etc. Of particular interest along with the nice large folding map, is the illustrated section of the A-Y-P, showing the exhibits, as well as chapter on The Arctic Club. Harrison (1859-1910) launched his career in Hollister, CA on the Hollister Telegraph, later with the San Francisco Post, and after being swept up in the Klondike gold fever, would end up running the Nome Daily News. Covers lightly soiled else a very good copy.
