This comprehensive history of the Western trail consists of the several trails that were used in the Texas cattleman's endeavor to deliver their cattle to a paying buyer, but two specific trails carried the major load of stock, the Eastern/Chisholm Trail and the Western Cattle Trail. The story includes hardships, Indian scares, killings, and humorous episodes, using the words of the settlers and the cowboys themselves.
