The Voice Of The Coyote.

J. FRANK DOBIE

Other works by J. FRANK DOBIE

Publication: Little, Brown and Company, 1949, Boston

First edition. 8vo. Signed by Dobie. Decorated cloth, xx, 386 pp., illustrated, introduction, notes, my creditors, index. Advance issue with autographed leaf inserted by the publisher between the copyright page and the dedication page. Rare state of this book, and much more difficult to locate than any of Dobie's signed and numbered editions. Estimates of the number of copies prepared in this way for Dobie and his friends range from 25 to 100 copies, with 50 copies being a good guess. Laid-in to this copy are two newspaper columns, both written by Dobie, about coyotes. Based on his own life experiences in Texas and twenty-five years of research, Dobie melds natural history with tales and lore in articulating the complex and often contentious relationship between coyotes and humans.

Tiny bump to top front corner, former owner's inked name and address on front free fly leaf, tiny label at bottom of the front pastedown sheet, else a fine, bright, tight copy in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends.
