First edition. Though the author was American, this was first published in the UK and then the following year as "The Clue of the Clock." A bibliomystery with a chapter titled “The Vellum Manuscript” in which one of the characters reads from it for the history of a rare statue that has been stolen, searching for clues that might lead to the thief, probably the cracksman known as “the Eagle.” Minor wear to the spine ends and corners else a very good copy of a scarce title.
