8" x 10 3/4" typed letter on The Folding Sawing Machine Co., Inc.'s stationery written to Mr. Samuel A. Hayward of Easton, MA, asking him to purchase one of the saws and to become an agent for the company in his locale. The letter says "We would like very much to have you order one of these machines right away and take the agency. When we give an agent a certificate of agency for any territory it entitles him to a commission on every machine that goes into his territory, no matter whether the order comes to us from the agent or from one of his customers. We enclose our agent's terms and if you would like the agency, let us know what territory you want and we will send you a certificate for it." Enclosed with this letter are four testimonial letters from satisfied users of the sawing machine, and a small four page brochure that demonstrates the 1896 model saw and provides testimonials from satisfied users, and the original mailing envelope to Mr. Hayward. The letter has folds, the brochure has tear at some of the fold seams, and the original mailing envelope is heavily worn. Overall a good group of material relating to the folding saw which weighs only 41 pounds when folded for carrying purposes.
