Publication: J T Bowen, 1843, Philadelphia

Hand-colored lithograph, 19 1/2" x 25 1/2" in 31 1/2" x 38" frame. One of the few prints in Audubon's Viviparious Quadrupeds of North America. This lithograph print appeared as plate XXVI in the large folio book. John Audubon was an American ornithologist, naturalist and painter. While Audubon is best known for his extensive studies documenting all types of American birds in their natural habitats, as illustrated in The Birds of North America, he also developed a series of paintings and prints of quadrupeds. These prints included extensive hand coloring with some of the earliest edition prints published by J.T. Bowen. Professionally matted and framed.
