John Plesent Gray graduated from college in 1880 and joined his family in Tombstone. Sixty years later he deposited a typewritten manuscript with the Arizona Pioneers' Historical Society (now the Arizona Historical Society) telling of life and events in the early days of Tombstone and Arizona. This valuable manuscript chronicles his eyewitness account of the shootout at the OK Corral, cattle ranching in Apache Territory, and vivid descriptions of the people who populated this wild and rugged place and the towns that grew as they came.
