First edition. 8vo. Limited to 100 copies, signed by the author. Printed stiff wrappers, [10], 48 pp., frontispiece [DeRugely Peareson], illustrated, portraits.
From the colophon page of this rare booklet: “Mr. DeRugely Peareson: I had intended that my History of Fort Bend County, which is now on the press, would be ready for delivery by today, but it has been somewhat delayed. I have procured the publisher to print me one hundred copies of Chapter 12, which I am distributing to my friends as a souvenir of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the crisis in Fort Bend County’s political affairs which occurred August 16, 1889. As far as I know, you are the sole survivor of that stirring event. With kindest regards, I beg to remain, truly your friend, Clarence R. Wharton, Richmond, Texas, August 16, 1939.”
Covers lightly toned, light wear to the spine ends, else a very good, tight copy.
