An account of the author's trip to Yellowstone in June of 1885, in the company of his wife and daughter. Part narrative and part guide-book. There are numerous chapters devoted to the features of the park, such as Mammoth Hot Springs, the Middle Falls of the Gardner, and the Great Canon of the Yellowstone, its wildlife and flora. Other chapters include "The Yellowstone Park and How to Reach It", 'The Railroad Journey", "An Elk Hunt", and a 26 page chapter entitled "The Cattle Ranges", informative and overlooked by Ramon Adam's The Rampaging Herd. A very scarce work. Some minor soiling and some light rubbing to edges. A bright, near-fine copy. The important and attractive map is near fine. Protected in a clamshell box with Title and Author in gilt on spine.
