Particularly notable are Leigh's Accounts of hunting grizzly bear and bighorn sheep, as well as descriptions of buffalo hunting and the use of horses in pursuing and hunting buffalo, illustrating how the horse enabled hunters to travel, pursue game, and operate in rugged country, making the animal an essential partner in the development of Western hunting.
