Correct first edition of the trade edition with the incorrect photograph of the subject on the front cover and dust jacket. Cloth, 161pp. The story of Herman Lehmann, who in 1870, at the age of 11, was captured by Apache Indians on his family's farm in Mason County, Texas. Herman lived among the Apaches, became a warrior, and later joined the Comanches. He lived the life of a warrior until the band he belonged to surrendered in 1877. Herman raided Texas settlements with other warriors and relates a story of near capture by the Texas Rangers that corroborates the stories of the same event told by Texas Rangers' Capt. Dan W. Roberts and James B. Gillett. Fascinating narrative. Highly recommended. Laid-in is a copy of the original promotional booklet. Fine in price-clipped dust jacket with two tiny closed tears to the top edge of the rear cover.
