An interesting account primarily dedicated to a defense of Colonel Chivington, the 1st Colorado Cavalry, and the 3rd Colorado Cavalry attack on a village of Cheyenne Indians, often referred to as the Sand Creek Massacre. Also some broader history of other clashes between the settlers, soldiers, and the Indians in 1864 and 1868. Howbert was a participant in Chivington's attack on the Cheyenne. Previous owner's bookplate and name written on front endpaper. Signed by Irving Howbert on front free endpaper. A near fine, bright copy.
