The Platte River road was a primitive super highway and the transcontinental route of the covered wagon migration of 1841-1866, made for one of the epic adventures of American history. This monumental work is based largely on contemporary sources, and whenever possible the fresh original language of emigrants, soldiers, foreign observers, and other travelers has been utilized. Former owner's last name in red on front fly leaf, else near fine in a lightly rubbed dust jacket with light wear to spine ends and the extremities, and with a closed tear to bottom edge of front panel.
