This edition is preceded by the Simon & Shuster hardcover edition which was published in 1940. Small bookseller's stamps on front cover, fore-edges moderately frayed, transparent tape reinforcement to spine ends, else very good in pictorial wrappers. No one knew who she was, where she came from, or why she had entered their lives. All they knew about her was that she was beautiful and that each time she appeared, a man died a horrible death!
