The ten books in The American Lakes Series were published by Bobbs-Merrill in the 1940s. The first five cover all of the Great Lakes. The next five concern thirteen other lakes which are scattered throughout the United States. Each book was written by a prominent historian and writer of the era. While much is directed to the lakes they are also about the land and people who reside around the lakes. This original historical series remains as one of the most valued contributions on the subject by both historians and librarians.

A splendid set in solid very good condition with each volume solid, clean and tight.
