Soil Surveys For 35 Texas Counties.

Soil Surveys For 35 Texas Counties.

Publication: Government Printing Office, 1910-1948, Washington, 1932

References for most of the surveys can be found in Jenkins' Cracker Barrel Chronicles bibliography. The earliest dated survey is 1910 and the most recent is 1948, with several odd dates in between. Each survey is complete with a map, details the type of soil in the county, and points out agricultural products grown along with livestock raised. A few of the booklets offer sufficient information to also be included in Rampaging Herd by Ramon Adams. The counties are Bee, Bell, Bowie, Brown, Cameron, Coleman, Dallas, Denton, Dickens, Dimmit, Erath, Eastland, Falls, Freestone, Frio, Galveston, Grayson, Hardeman, Henderson, Hidalgo, Hunt, Maverick, Midland, Milam, Nacogdoches, Navarro, Potter, Reeves, Red River, Rockwall, San Saba, Scurry, Taylor, Victoria, Wichita, and Wheeler. Two of the surveys are dis-bound and two lack the covers, but on balance they are all well-preserved and are very good copies.
