Louis Lighton was a screenwriter and producer of American films, including "Tom Sawyer," "The Virginian," "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn," and "Captains Courageous." Green cloth, titles and decoration stamped in black on the front cover and spine, x, [2], 328 pp., numerous illustrations by Will James. The drawing on the dust jacket, according to Frazier in his bibliography of James Books says, "The one very wonderful black-and-white drawing on the dj is not repeated in the book, so if you want all 48 of the separate Will James drawings and sketches in SAND you have to get the first edition in dj." Some expert light repair to the inner rear spine by a master paper conservator, else a fine, bright, square copy in an attractive dust jacket with two tiny spots on the spine. Housed in a cloth slipcase with a leather label on the spine and the titles stamped in gilt. An exceptional copy.
