Rockne (March 4, 1888 – March 31, 1931) was a Norwegian-American football player and coach at the University of Notre Dame. Rockne is regarded as one of the greatest coaches in college football history. His biography at the College Football Hall of Fame identifies him as "without question, American football's most-renowned coach". Rockne helped to popularize the forward pass and made the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a major factor in college football. He died in a tragic airplane crash on March 31, 1931. This rare Rockne Motors dealer’s catalogue for the 1932 Rockne Six “75” which was adapted from the 1931 Studebaker Six Moderl 54, featuring a 114-inch wheelbase. Equipped with 6-cylinder engines, rated at 75 horsepower, production started in Feb., 1932 at the Detroit plant Studebaker had previously purchased from E-M-F, and were produced in 4-door sedans, 2- and 4-passenger couples.
