Original full leather, blind panels on sides, titles stamped in gold gilt on front cover and spine, top edges gilt, 757 pp., numerous illustrations, plates, map, portraits (with tissues), double column. The association member's name (A McIntyre) is stamped in gold gilt on the front cover and also stated on the certification page. The introduction by James W. Freeman, states that the "Historical Sections of this volume were written by Jerome C. Smiley of Denver, Colorado..." This volume is the only one of three projected that was ever published, since its publication bankrupted the printing company and nearly broke the Association. Contains a wealth of information on the cattle industry, horses, buffalo, cattle trails, etc. Many biographical sketches of leading men of the cattle industry including Charles Goodnight, Teddy Roosevelt, Ike Pryor, C. C. Slaughter, R. J. Kleberg, Richard King, and many others. Herd 844 "One of the most important and sought after books on the cattle industry." Six Guns 764 "Contains material on the Johnson County and Lincoln County Wars, Billy the Kid." This copy has an old water stain at the bottom margin (about 1/4" into the lower margin, not affecting the text), internally clean else a very good copy housed in a clamshell case with a leather label on the spine and titles stamped in gold gilt.
