Publication: Geoffrey Bles, 1937, London
First edition. Spine lettering is readable but white ink has flecked off, front cover title lettering is bright and in fine condition, else near fine copy in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends, corners and extremities and a closed tear with several tiny creases to top edge of rear cover. The penultimate novel (of seven) written by Vahey (1881-1938) as Henrietta Clandon, a pseudonym he used exclusively while writing for Geoffrey Bles. Lawyer William Power enlists the help of his married novelist friends, Vincie and Penny Mercer, on an unusual murder involving what appears to be a poisoning by inhalation. Evidence suggests that a boutonniere found on the victim's lapel was dusted with cocaine. The two writers are enlisted as unofficial detectives and together the three solve the murder.
