Discusses his ancestry, birth, boyhood, West Point graduation, and Army life prior to the Civil War. Several chapters on the Civil War, the Mexican–American War, as well as and of the various other campaigns. Superbly tight and handsome first edition of what is generally considered one of the greatest presidential memoirs ever, penned near the end of his life and published very shortly after his death by Mark Twain's son-in-law. An impressive set. You may find a set as nice as this one, but none better.
