The trip commenced in St. Louis and traveled through Alton, Quincy, Keokuk, Nauvoo, Muscatine, Rock Island & Davenport, Clinton, Dubuque, McGregor, Prairie du Chien, LaCrosse, Trempleau, Maiden Rock, St. Paul, Minneapolis and ending in Wayzata. Describes the scenery along the voyage, happenings aboard the ship, the history of various areas, a bit about each town traveled through, etc. Discusses Mormons, Father Marquette, the Des Moines Rapids and her various locks, how locks work, and with much on St. Paul/Minneapolis. Also offered is a nice description of the steamer. Listing of routes and rates for 45 different excursions. 16 pages of advertisements (many full-page) for various establishments to include grocers, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Railroad, various hotels, stock yards, mill contractors, tailors, etc. Numerous illustrations throughout. Light foxing and soiling to wrappers and throughout. At top of title page prior owner has neatly written name, city and state. Spine attached at 2" with remainder of spine split and chipped at head and toe along with light wear to the extremities.
