This is a short pioneer memoir about traveling overland from Missouri to Oregon in 1846, when Pringle was a boy. It is also an early description of the Deschutes River and central Oregon.

It is essentially two related pieces: "Magic River Deschutes" ... Pringle describes the Deschutes River, its scenery, unusual character, and the impression it made on him. "Experience of an Emigrant Boy in 1846" ... this is the more historical portion. Pringle recalls his family's ox-team journey from Missouri, across the Plains, and eventually into Oregon. Much of the narrative concerns their experiences traveling through Oregon. A first-person Oregon Trail reminiscence. Fine copy.
