McLoughlin Brothers was one of the most prominent publishers of children’s publications in the world from the mid-nineteenth-century through the mid-twentieth century. The story is written an inner city- sorta dialect. A story about kids, Fatso and Mush, who found great joy in littering... that is until they we "pinched" by Officer Branner and brought back to the street sweeper, Tony Macaroni. Tony had the two boys sweep the streets when along came Mush's mom, who took poor Mush home and scolded him for breaking the law and threatened to give him no supper. After a sincere apology from Mush, dinner was served. The next day Mush met up with his friends and let them know that, "Tony works hard sweepin' the street. I foun' that out. Now if ever one of you guys throws anythin' around, stedda in a rubbage can, I'll beat ya up, see?"
