Illustration Of John Wesley Hardin

JOHN WESLEY HARDIN

Other works by JOHN WESLEY HARDIN

Publication: Smith & Moore, 1896, Seguin, Texas

As described by Ramon Adams in his bibliography, Six-Guns And Saddle Leather, "In the first copies of the original edition (The Life Of John Wesley Hardin...) released by the printers, the portrait of Joe Hardin, John's brother, is mislabeled John M. Hardin." This single sheet portrait of John Wesley Hardin was apparently produced to be inserted into copies of Hardin's autobiography, as printed under this correct portrait is the following: The Picture On Opposite Page Is That Of Joe Hardin, Brother Of John Wesley. Though we have seen many copies of The Life Of John Wesley Hardin, and have been familiar with Ramon Adams and John H. Jenkins statements regarding the Frontispiece portrait, this is the first that we have seen this insert. Paper tanned, else fine.
