Two-tone quarter cloth and decorated boards with titles on paper labels affixed to the front cover and spine, [14], 116 pp., frontispiece (color print), preface, illustrated, plates, portraits, map of Pony Express route inside back cover, chapter footnotes, index. The Pony Express was a great venture started by the firm of Russell, Majors & Waddell and the Wells, Fargo & Company. In a nutshell the Pony Express proved the plausibility of a transcontinental railroad, and it emphasized the need of an extended telegraphic service. Fine, bright copy in the original unprinted paper dust jacket that is protected with a transparent polyester dust jacket.
Laid-in to this copy is a new 4-cent Pony Express stamped envelope, two typed letters and envelopes on Mumey stationery signed by his literary secretary advising a bookseller of the price of the book and its sold-out condition, and a typed letter on "The Pony Express Courier" stationery asking Dr. Mumey to consider becoming a subscriber to the paper. The letter is signed and dated in 1937.
