Fort Bascom was built to protect the New Mexicans who demanded military protection from the Kiowa and Comanche Indians, both of whom were causing problems to the settlers and their property. It was a desolate fort in a desolate region. Interesting commentary on the Custer fight at Little Big Horn, Charles Goodnight and the battle with the U.S. Government for cattle claims, etc., the cattle trade, the Montoya Grant, fights with the Indians, etc. Fine in dust jacket with 3 very small chips to edge of front panel.
