Drawing on his own observations and the manuscripts of his friend Father De Smet, the Catholic priest recounts ranch life in 1860s Kansas. His firsthand narrative captures the hardships, challenges, and daily demands of operating a ranch on the American frontier. A portion of the book examines Jesuit missionary work among the Osage in Neosho County and Youngman’s observations of interactions among the Osage, Catholic priests, and arriving white settlers.
Light wear to the spine ends and corners, else a very good copy.
