Littlefield rode with Terry's Texas Rangers, was a cowboy, trail driver, rancher, and later big rancher, banker and philantropist. He was an important giver to the University of Texas, financing buildings, and more importantly, library collections. Offers accounts of Texas cattle raising and cattle drives, the development of the Texas Panhandle, the LIT Ranch, the Yellow House Ranch, Texas banking and cattle finance, land acquisition and ranch consolidation, the transition from open-range cattle operations to more organized ranching as well as the relationship between cattlemen, business, railroads and Texas politics. Laid-in are two typed letters to Dykes signed by Haley plus a political cartoon clipped from a newspaper. Very good tight copy in internally reinforced dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and spine panel, a crease to lower portion of rear cover, and a small chip to top edge of front cover.
