Publication: American News Company, 1872, New York

Second edition. 12mo. Inked inscription on the front preliminary sheet: "To Mrs. Susie C. Vogh. With compliments of the author. Fanny Stenhouse." Original green cloth stamped in blind, titles stamped in gilt on the front cover and spine, 221 [1] pp., illustrated, advertisement. Illustrated by H. L. Stephens. Fanny Stenhouse was a well-educated, relatively sophisticated English convert, after her arrival in the Territory in 1859 quickly grew disillusioned with the LDS Church and Polygamy. This sensational account of Mormonism and life in Brigham Young's Utah, predates the bestseller by Stenhouse 'Tell it All.' After the publication of this work, Fanny Stenhouse became a celebrity in the cultural wars between Mormons and much of America. Covers lightly rubbed, light wear to the spine ends, front free fly leaf chipped along extremities and loosened, else a very good copy.
