AHC 233 says: "Kosterlitzky was a Russian sailor who jumped ship and joined La Gendarmeria Fiscal, the dreaded Rurales, of Mexico, with whom he served from 1885-1913. He participated in the Yaqui-Mayo wars, the Apache campaigns in the Sierra Madre, and the revolutionary turmoil of the early 20th century. He was an undercover agent for the U. S.
