Folding map, 31.7 x 40 cm [12 5/8" x 15 3/4"] bound-into original decoratively embossed brown cloth boards with title stamped in gilt on the front cover and title embossed on the rear cover. A very handsome pocket map of Mexico showing the country in its entirety and including a small inset map at the bottom of the left corner: "Territory and Isthmus of Tehuantepec." The map shows Mexico divided into states, with states colored in shades of orange, pink, blue, yellow, and green. Much attention to detail is paid regarding locations of towns and cities within each state. The countries of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador are located, but not colored. The southern portion of the United States is also shown and labeled. Map contains an ornate decorative border, original hand-coloring, with mild toning and an advertisement listing other publications by Colton on inside front pastedown sheet, else a near fine and attractive map of Mexico. Not in Phillips.
