Colorful Promotional Broadside For Braniff International Airways

BRANIFF INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS

Other works by BRANIFF INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS

Publication: Braniff International Airways, n d (ca 1960s), N P

Vibrantly colored 65.5 x 50.5 cm. [26" x 20"] promotional broadside. Braniff Airways, Inc., operated as Braniff International Airways from 1948 until 1965, and then as Braniff International until air operations ceased. The company continues today as a retailer, hotelier, travel service and branding and licensing company. Braniff’s routes were primarily in the midwestern and southwestern United States, Mexico, Central America and South America. In the 1970’s they expanded operations to Europe and Asia. Air operations ceased entirely in 1982 due to soaring fuel prices, heavy debt, overcapacity, and deregulation.

The broadside here features Braniff’s El Dorado Super Jet, advertised as being the “World’s Fastest Jetliner.” The poster also bears the crest of the company. A wonderful example of promotional material from the heyday of air travel. Fine copy, suitable for framing.
