First edition. Signed by the author. Fine in dust jacket. In this sequel to Canaletto and the Case of Westminster Bridge we find Italian artist Canaletto in London in 1747 seeking commissions for his world-famous views. One night he and his friend stumble upon the body of a woman who has been stabbed and whose face has been brutally slashed. Canaletto can't get her out of his mind and isn't quite sure why. Is it the piece of paper found clutched in her hand? Is it because she reminds him of someone? Is the killer going to strike again leaving his disgusting calling card on another victim's face?
