First edition. 8vo. Fine, bright copy in a fine, bright dust jacket with trivial wear to the spine ends. A man is awakened in a Pullman car by a porter who tells him he must hurry to get out at his station. The man does not know what his station is nor does he know his own name or identity. As he leaves the train he is met by a hotel bus driver who takes him to a hotel and registered into a suite that everyone there seems to regard as having been his for quite some time. Further he finds that he is the head of a highly speculative mining venture and engaged to a beautiful young woman. An intriguing suspense mystery novel and an exceptional copy. Francis Lynde (November 12, 1856 - May 16, 1930) was an American author. Many of his mystery novels are set in Chattanooga in Eastern Tennessee. This is his last mystery novel. He also authored several western cowboy titles.
