4 7/8" x 11" printed one sheet for Madison County, Montana Table For The Collection of Statistics For The Territory of Montana Which Was Authorized By The Act of The Seventh Legislative Assembly and Approved January 12, 1872. The sheet of statistics for 1872, for Madison County, Montana Territory were gathered in 1873, and dated Virginia City, January 31st, 1874. A. V. Corry was the county clerk and compiled the entered figures and information in red ink and stamped with the seal of Madison County and docketed on the verso of the document. The provided information includes number of births; number of deaths and of that total, how many deaths were natural and how many were accidental; number of acres cultivated and their output; businesses and their gross receipts; wages paid; materials manufactured; etc. According to this document in Madison County there were 51 births, 28 deaths all by natural causes, 3719 1/2 acres of wheat, 24 1/4 acres of rye, 406 acres of barley, all in cultivation, 191 ranches, $295,290.00 in gross receipts from placer mines, 11 quartz mills, 8 saw mills producing 840,000 feet of lumber, 10 blacksmith shops, 2 coal mines including Alder Gulch, 2 silversmith shops, 2 carpenter shops, 682 cows used in dairy producing 62335 pounds of butter and cheese products, and much more statistical information of interest for Madison County. A very interesting and informative document for the time period. Faint fold creases with light toning, else a very good copy.
