Brininstool. An outstanding account of the introduction and development of range cattle to Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, from herds originating in Oregon. With no market in Oregon, the rapidly increasing herds were brought eastward. Told from first-hand experience and often in true cowboy jargon, this work chronicles the history of these trail drives, the later destruction of open-range grazing, the development of the Wyoming Cattle Growers Assoc., and the final influx of sheep herds and dry farmers, with their resultant effect. "This book has a lengthy chapter on the Johnson County War and the hanging of Cattle Kate and Jim Averill, and also contains material on Tom Horn and the Wild Bunch."--Ramon Adams. An excellent work comprised of much source material. Rollinson, who was a cowboy and rancher in Wyoming, died before this book was published. Light bumps to 2 corners, small name & address label of previous owner in upper corner of front endpaper. Dust jacket is lightly sunned on spine with some slight chipping to corners and spine ends, and a couple of very short closed tears to edges.
