First edition. Limited edition of 150 copies, of which 75 were offered for sale. Oblong 8vo. Two-tone quarter cloth and marbled paper over boards, light blue front and rear endpapers, 76 pp., foreword, acknowledgments, introduction, illustrated, color plates, notes for the Introduction, notes for the paintings, notes for the journal, index. Foreword by Jan Keene Muhlert, Director, Amon Carter Museum. Introduction by Ron Tyler. Sarah Ann resided in Texas from 1852 to 1856 and her artistic representations of Austin, San Antonio and the surrounding areas are some of the finest depictions of Pre-Civil War Texas extant. Her paintings and journal are particularly important because they represent a woman’s perspective of Texas, a view point which is rare. A handsome presentation of an important work.
