Then Came Christmas For Mildred Taitt.

J. EVETTS HALEY

Other works by J. EVETTS HALEY

Publication: Printed by George Autry, 1951, Amarillo

First edition. This is the true first edition of this title and should not be confused with the hardcover edition of the same title issued in 1962 by Shamrock Oil Company that was limited to 400 hardcover copies. 4to. Large format pictorial stiff wrappers, n. p. (12 pp.), illustrated by H.D. Bugbee. Attractive printing of a story that Haley adapted from his fine work, Jeff Milton: A Good Man With A Gun, and sent out as a charming Christmas present. The story of Milton's and Mildred Taitt's courtship, marriage and a bit of their life together. He was a bachelor of 57 years of age, 200 pounds, a border patrolman known for his use of a gun. She was a 90 pound 40 years old who had come to Arizona as a "lunger." No one gave the marriage a chance, but all were wrong. Fine copy of a scarce item. This is second of Haley’s Christmas greetings distributed to family and friends. Doubtless done in a small edition, this large format is very scarce.
