First edition. 7 3/4" x 10 ½" in full limp calf with title in gilt on front cover. Soft leather paste-downs. Decorated paper fly leaves. [50] pp. Map. Illustrations. A well-illustrated souvenir album for The Texas Company (Texaco), providing views of oil fields, pumping stations, United States and international facilities, tank wagons, tank railroad cars, the Dallas Station under construction, as well as refined oil stations in San Antonio, Eagle Lake, New Orleans, and Garrison. The oil derricks and fields at Sour Lake, Saratoga, and Humble are depicted, as are the 1905 Humble Fire, and Texas Company exhibits at the Texas State Fair and the Trans-Mississippi Commercial Congress. Originally founded as the Texas Company in 1902, the company quickly expanded, and by 1908 was selling oil to nearly all states in the West, and by 1906 had registered Texaco as a trademark product name, although this souvenir piece precedes the changeover to the iconic logo with green "T" in the center of the red star which first appeared in 1909. Double-page centerfold panoramic photo of Texas Co. oil storage tanks, surrounded by vignette images. Color map of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico & Mexico in blue and black showing pipe lines on verso of front free end paper. Colophon color plate showing crossing American & Texas flags with Texas Company star logo on recto of rear flyleaf. Expertly rebacked. Light soiling and with light wear to the extremities. Very good.
