First edition. Stiff printed wrappers, 164 pp., illustrated with 125 portraits by Henry H. Cross, 22 of which are in color. Introduction by A.W. Schorger. The 22 color plates are printed separately and tipped-in, as issued. Each portrait is accompanied by a very brief biography. The portraits are separated into 2 sections: "Indian Chiefs, Warriors, Medicine Men, and Army Scouts" is the first section, with 100 portraits; and "White Men in the Indian Country: Traders, Explorers, Scouts and Guides, Army Officers and Soldiers," the second section with 25 portraits. A fine, clean, bright copy.
