Publication: Privately printed By Chas A Siringo, 1919, Santa Fe
First edition. 18mo.. 6" x 3 1/2" pictorial wrappers, 42 pp., explanation, introduction. Songs included are THE LONE STAR, THE DYING COWBOY, THE TEXAS RANGERS, MUSTANG GRAY, COW BOY CAROL, SAM BASS, THE BUFFALO HUNTERS, THE TOUGH LONGHORN, THE DYING RANGER, THE COWBOY'S CHRISTMAS BALL, THE GOL-DARNED WHEEL, A JOLLY COWBOY, and THE EASTERN SHORES OF THE RIO GRANDE. Also included is a first edition copy of A Lone Star Cowboy, Being Fifty Years Experience In The Saddle As Cowboy, Detective and New Mexico Ranger, On Every Cow Trail In The Wooly Old West. Also The Doings Of Some "Bad" Cowboys, Such As "Billy the Kid," Wess Harding and "Kid Curry." Siringo issued this little song booklet because the songs fit together nicely and many are mentioned in his new book at the time, A LONE STAR COW-BOY. The Song Companion has the original wrappers, with light wear to the spine ends, a small corner crease to the front cover, tiny corner chips to three corners and light wear to the extremities, else a very good copy. This is a rare item. The copy of A Lone Star Cowboy has the former owner's inked name and address on the front fly leaf, covers lightly rubbed, light wear to the spine ends, corners and extremities, title a bit dull on the front cover and spine, else a good copy of a scarce book. Song Companion housed in a four point clamshell case and both books are presented in a matching cloth slipcase that is lined with felt and with titles on paper labels on the front and spine. Only the second copy of the Song Companion we've handled a rare item and a Merrill Aristocrat of the Cow Country.
