Reprinted from The New Mexico Historical Review, Vol. IV, No. 3, July, 1929. Printed wrappers, 202 - 219 pp. (17 pp.), frontispiece (Apache Indian Police in 1875). This police force was formed in August of 1874 and consisted of four Apache policemen. Their function was to arrest the insubordinate, guard the prisoners and do general police duty. They were employed for $15.00 per month. Due to the success of the original four they expanded eventually to a size that had varying degrees of officers to manage the police force. It was an important and successful venture. This copy has an old water stain to the spine panel that influences the margin of each page that follows. The text is readable and free of the small stain, else this is a very good copy of an important booklet housed in a cloth clamshell case with titles stamped in white on the front cover and spine.
