First Separate Printing. Reprinted from The New Mexico Historical Review, Vol. IV, No. 3, July, 1929. Printed wrappers, 202 - 219 pp. (17 pp.), frontispiece (Apache Indian Police in 1875). This police force was formed in August of 1874 and consisted of four Apache policemen. Their function was to arrest the insubordinate, guard the prisoners and do general police duty. They were employed for $15.00 per month. Due to the success of the original four they expanded eventually to a size that had varying degrees of officers to manage the police force. It was an important and successful venture. Near fine copy.
