This work is Gilpin's photographic love letter to the Pueblos of the southwest. Laura Gilpin (1891-1979) attained international recognition as photographer and her images of the Navajo and Pueblo peoples of the four corners area offer an important record of these cultures. She excelled in a field that up to the point, had largely been the purview of men. Western landscape photographer Ansel Adams praised Gilpin by remarking that she had a "highly individualistic eye." Minor wear to extremities of cloth else very good copy in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and corners, small crease to top edge of rear panel and small crease to bottom edge of front panel, and small nicks and tears to the extremities.
