The narrator provides insight on his trip to the mouth of the Yukon and tells of all the experiences he was called upon to face during his two years stay. Also provides meaningful suggestions and advice to those planning to come and search for gold. As a member of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police he recounts stories where miners were defrauded of rich claims and due to this and other events the Canadian Government decided to send a detachment of police into the district to administer law and order "in the best way they could." A sketch map of the Klondyke District is provided and shows the Police Post located at Forty Mile Town along the Yukon River.
