The Masquerade Mystery by Fergus Hume

The Masquerade Mystery

by Fergus Hume

Publication: Digby, Long & Co, Publishers, n, d, 1895, London

First edition. Front and rear endpapers lightly soiled, top edge of rear cover has a very small old water stain that touches on the top edges of a few rear page edges (but not affecting any text), else a very good, tight copy. Letters threatening blackmail arrive which prompts the release of a document labeled "The Larcher Affair" documenting an unsolved murder from 25 years ago. To confound matters the circumstances surrounding the murder have become the basis of a new three volume book of fiction that is now the "talk of literary London." The U.S. title, also rare, is The Third Volume. A very rare bibliomystery.
