As a result of the Sioux Uprising in Minnesota in August,1862, the panicked settlers in northern Iowa insisted on the formation of the Iowa Northern Border Brigade to protect them. Over the course of the next 2 years, the Northern Border Brigade built forts, staffed them, and patrolled the region to protect settlers from depredations by the Sioux of Minnesota. A scarce work. Light wear to the edges. Very Good.
